London

Hi everyone,

We've been too busy to blog until now. But here's a rundown on what we've been up to and some photos:

Burj Khalifa:

We said how cool this was, but we didn't have any photos. Here's a couple:
 From Dubai Mall
This is from the 150th floor looking up.
Happy as a pig in mud!

Dubai Airport:

This airport is the biggest airport I've ever seen. It's got escalators that are about 30m high, the biggest I've ever been on. It's so big they have a special train that takes you to your terminal.

Here is a photo of the lifts:

Arriving in London:

(From Pete): As we drove into London on our first afternoon, the cabbie had been doing lots of 'rat running' to drop off other passengers, when we came around a corner and Kael spotted something familiar. He only caught a glimpse, but he knew he'd spotted Westminster Abbey. We went around a couple more corners and found ourselves on Parliament Square, looking straight at the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. I don't think I will ever forget the look on his face as long as I live, worth travelling halfway across the world for that one moment. Life is rich.

(From Kael): When I arrived in London on the plane, I was super-duper excited. The plane turned to the left and I could see the ground. It was so exciting! When we were driving to the hotel, we stopped at two other hotels for other people. And when we crossed the lake, I could just catch a small glimpse of Big Ben and the London Eye. We were dropping off the last two people when I saw a big white building that looked like Notre Dame, but it wasn't. I knew what it was. It was Westminster Abbey. We were driving straight towards it but I was pretty sad when he turned the corner. But we came back to it and there we were in Parliament Square looking straight at do-you-know-what? That's right, BIG BEN! I felt great, I've always wanted to see it.

Tower Bridge:

Our hotel is called the Grange Tower Bridge, and dad got our room change so we could see the bridge from our room. It is the best view, and a really nice hotel. On our first night we went for a walk past the Tower of London and across the Tower Bridge. It was so awesome! And when we were on it, the bridge came up to let a boat through!!! Here are some pictures:

 A little bit excited!
 Truly magnificent
Couldn't believe our luck...up it goes!
Slightly better than Commonwealth Ave Bridge

Big day in London

We went on the open top bus to some of the big things in London. We walked all around Big Ben, went on the London Eye, went to the London Dungeon and caught a ferry back to the Tower Bridge. It was such an amazing day. The London Dungeon was really really scary. I didn't really enjoy it because I was really scared.

Here are some photos. Dad took hundreds of photos of Big Ben for me.

Tower of London - just around the corner from our hotel
Like a dog with its head out the window
St Paul's
 Piccadilly Circus
Trafalgar Square - vive la France!
 Queen's Arch (I think that's what it's called?)
